GERALD JOSEPH ST. LAURENT It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Gerald was called home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on the morning of August 19, 2011 at the age of 74 years with his family by his side at Concordia Hospital. Gerald (Jerry) was born in Winnipeg on October 28, 1936. He was predeceased by his parents Orille and Gertrude St. Laurent and his loving wife of 40 years Barbara who passed away in 2004. He is survived by his children, Angela (Ron), Bobby, Paul and Peter (Leah), nine grandchildren, Colton, Jaylene, Cayden, Genevieve, Justin, Morgan, Kyle, Stacy and Kevin, brother Tom, and sisters Rita and Vicky, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Jerry also left his special companion of almost five years Mary Thiessen. Jerry (Dad) was a loving, dedicated family man and friend. He retired from Fort Garry Industries (Fire Trucks) in 2001 with over 30 years of service. He was so hard working and spent so much of his time helping others. In his youth, he loved riding motorcycles. He coached hockey and softball for Chalmers Community Centre. He enjoyed camping and fishing. Building and flying control line planes was a hobby he enjoyed as a member of the Perfect Circle Flying Club. Thank you Lord for the life of Gerald (Dad); we all love and miss him so much, but take comfort in knowing that he is in your hands now. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 26 at St. Gerard Church, 45 Foster St., in Winnipeg. Viewing will be held at 1:30 p.m. and the service will start at 2:00 p.m., Father Pierre Wood officiating. Cremation to follow. Pallbearers are Todd St. Laurent, Colton Bertrand, Kyle Ringland, Moe Thiessen, Larry Maltman and Martin Smyk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerry's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, or the Manitoba Lung Association.
